Privacy policy
We make games, not advertising profiles. This page explains the little we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
Last updated · 24 September 2026
The short version
- Our games record anonymous gameplay statistics (via Unity Analytics) so we can fix bugs and balance the games.
- We collect no names, emails, accounts or precise locations — in the games or on this website.
- No advertising, no tracking cookies, no selling data. Ever.
- Steam handles your purchases under Valve's own privacy policy.
Who we are
RedKar Devs is a small independent game studio based in Poland and the United Kingdom. We are the data controller for the information described on this page. For anything privacy-related, email us at development@redkardevs.co.uk.
This policy covers our games — including Orcthal and our other current and future titles — and our website, redkardevs.co.uk.
Gameplay analytics in our games
Our games use Unity Analytics, a service operated by Unity Technologies, to help us understand how they are actually played. It records things such as:
- Gameplay events — starting or finishing a session or run, progression milestones, difficulty and upgrade choices, wins and losses, how long you played;
- Technical information — operating system, device or hardware model, graphics card, screen resolution, system language and game version;
- Performance and crash data — frame-rate problems, errors and crashes, so we can fix them;
- Approximate, country-level region — derived from your IP address when events are received (we see aggregate country statistics, not your address);
- A randomly generated identifier — created on your device so repeated sessions count as one player. It is not your name, email or Steam account, and we cannot use it to work out who you are.
We use this data to fix bugs, balance difficulty and decide what to improve or build next. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in understanding and improving our games (Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR and UK GDPR).
Unity processes this data on our behalf. You can read how in the Unity Privacy Policy for players: unity.com/legal/game-player-and-app-user-privacy-policy. Where a specific game offers an analytics opt-out, you will find it in that game's settings.
What our games don't do
- No collection of your name, email address, postal address or phone number;
- No access to your microphone, camera, contacts or personal files;
- No precise location tracking;
- No advertising and no ad-tracking SDKs;
- No selling or renting of data to anyone, in any form.
Steam
Our games are distributed on Steam. When you buy, wishlist or play them through Steam, Valve Corporation processes data connected to your Steam account — purchases, playtime, achievements, cloud saves — as an independent controller under its own policy: Steam Privacy Policy. We only ever see the anonymous, aggregated statistics Steam shows to developers (for example wishlist counts and regional sales totals), never your personal details.
Our website
redkardevs.co.uk is a set of static pages: it runs no analytics scripts, no advertising and no tracking cookies, and it has no user accounts. Fonts, images and video are served from our own server rather than third-party CDNs. Two things are still worth knowing:
- Our hosting provider (Krystal Hosting Ltd, United Kingdom) keeps standard, short-lived web-server logs — IP address, browser type and the pages requested — used only for security and keeping the site running.
- Each game page embeds a Steam store widget loaded from steampowered.com. Loading it means your browser contacts Valve's servers, which may set their own cookies; Valve's privacy policy applies to that request.
Services we link to
The site links out to our Discord server, our X / Twitter profile and our Steam pages. Once you follow such a link, the privacy policy of that service applies.
Children
Our games and website are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, children included. If you believe a child has sent us personal information — for example by email — contact us and we will delete it.
How long we keep things
Analytics data is retained by Unity according to its standard retention periods and reviewed by us as aggregated statistics. Web-server logs rotate automatically after a short period. Emails you send us are kept for as long as needed to deal with them.
International transfers
Unity may process analytics data on servers outside the UK and the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Those transfers take place under Unity's safeguards, such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
Your rights
Under the GDPR and UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability. Email us and we will do what we can. One honest caveat: because the analytics data we hold is not linked to names or accounts, we usually cannot tell which data belongs to which player, and data-protection law (Article 11) does not require us to collect extra information about you just to be able to do so.
You can also complain to a supervisory authority: the ICO in the UK (ico.org.uk), UODO in Poland (uodo.gov.pl), or the authority in your own country.
Changes to this policy
If our data practices change — a new game, a different analytics tool — we will update this page and the date at the top. Meaningful changes will also be mentioned in our Discord and on the games' Steam pages.
